I finally made the big decision to have him come to the school where I teach rather than our neighborhood school. This way his routine each morning is the same. He thrives with routine, so this is important. I also have seen HUGE gains in his confidence, academics, and emotions in the last 4 months. I have no concerns about tantrums, adjustment, etc... Yes, there is the possibility of these issues, but words can't express the changes we've seen since January.
Now he is playing T-ball. Yes, he's the oldest (and least athletic) kid on the team. But let's look at the postives: HE'S ON A TEAM! He's having fun (he skipped to first base!) and he is following directions.
So we will continue the chaos of spring. My daughter Kacie is a sixth grader, and being a sixth grade teacher myself, I know we have a busy few months ahead of us. I will have one kid going to Jr. High and one going to Kindergarten. I am EXCITED! I'm not that parent to mourn the past. Yes, it's hard to watch them grow up, but I love how life is molding them into the people they are. I am not in a hurry to watch them grow up, not that at all. It is hard to watch my little girl be 5'5", and that we no longer have a preschooler in the house. At the same time, it's a celebration that as parents, WE'VE MADE IT THIS FAR!
This is Kacie at Outdoor School. This was my 7th year, and it was great to have her out there with me (although she wanted NOTHING to do with me--so yes, she's normal!)
Enjoy this beautiful day!
